September Already!

I can't believe it's already September! This year is already going by so fast. By the end of this month, I will be sending home progress reports with student grades by email. I sent out a test email last week to verify your email address. If you did not get an email from me, please send a note to school or email me with your correct email address.

August 31st-September 4th:
Math: Place Value and Rounding
Writing/Grammar: Adjectives and Nouns
Reading: Author's Purpose (persuade, entertain, inform)
Science: Piedmont region and Coastal Plain region of Georgia

**Students should be writing their reading summary down in their agenda daily. Please remember to sign their agenda. This lets me know that you were aware of the homework for that night.

Getting into Gear!

We had a wonderful first week in 3rd grade! Last week and this week we are still reviewing our rules and procedures in the classroom and in the school. This week we will be starting to learn the AKS for the first quarter of 3rd grade. Parents please read your child's agenda book each day to see what we have done in class and what is for homework. Every night your child should bring home their reading log. They must get this signed and write a summary of what they read that night. There will also be another subject assignment along with the reading log on a daily basis. We do not have homework on weekends! Here is a sneak peek of what we are starting to learn:

Math-Bar graphs, tally tables, estimation
Reading-Understanding Reading Workshop
Writing-The writing process and rules of Writer's Workshop
Grammar-Subjects/Predicates, Plural and singular nouns
Science-Habitats and Ecosystems

**Don't forget that Curriculum Night is Thursday night at 6:30!! I will be discussing important items for the school year. I hope to see you there!
